EASTERN SIERRAS 2024

PHOTOGRAPHY EXPERIENCE & WORKSHOP

ITINERARY

This is an approximate outline of our Workshop plans but is always dependent on weather and other unforeseen circumstance. Our goal each day will be to get to the locations that best match conditions. We'll stay flexible.

Day 1:  October 21   Workshop starts

We will meet at 2pm in the lobby of our hotel in Lone Pine, California.

    • 220 miles from Harry Reid International Airport (LAS) Las Vegas, Nevada

    • 196 miles from Ontario, CA International Airport (ONT)

We’ll gather to introduce ourselves, talk more about the specific locations we’ll be exploring and photographing, adjust our shooting plans, as needed, with updates for sunrise and sunset/blue hour times for the next several days and discuss what we each will be working to accomplish during the Workshop.
After getting settled in our hotel rooms we will have time for a quick intro trip into the Alabama Hills for a sunset shoot. Dinner in Lone Pine will follow.

Day 2:   Alabama Hills
Sunrise/morning shoot, breakfast, afternoon exploration/shoot, sunset shoot, group dinner

Day 3:  Bristlecone Pines
Early rise for the drive to the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest where we will explore and photograph the uniquely beautiful tree forms and oldest living organisms on earth. After the day at over 11,000',  we will check into our hotel in Big Pine, CA , group dinner.

Day4:  June Lake, Tioga Pass
We will rise early for the drive to shoot the autumn color in the Aspen groves near June Lake. In the afternoon we will explore mountain lakes along Tioga Pass and autumn color along Lee Vining Creek.

Day 5:  For our final morning we will be up early for a sunrise at Mono Lake followed by a final image review and group slideshow back at our Lee Vining hotel before saying good bye and checkout. Workshop end.

What About Weather

If it’s raining, we’ll be out shooting. If it’s windy and stormy, we’ll be out shooting. Dramatic weather often makes for dramatic images. The only time we will not be out shooting is if it is determined that conditions are unsafe or considered by Bob or Jason to be un-shootable. Participants, of course, will always be free to remain in their hotel room to rest or edit images.
